Blood Splatters on Barletta - Campaign in Jeopardy

With the murder of Luis Ramirez a Mexican Immigrant seen as the logical conclusion of the anti immigrant rhetoric of Hazleton Mayor Larry Barletta Republican insiders worried about congressional campaign. Did the verbal attacks of small town neo-fascist Larry Barletta drive teens to murder? Knowledgeable political operatives are concerned that Barletta is a one issue candidate and his one issue is rapidly going south.

WENY-TV Carney Leading Hackett in Polls

Carney Leading Hackett in Polls

September 5, 2008

Northern Tier Democratic congressman Chris Carney is leading his challenger -- Republican Chris Hackett -- in two recent polls.
However, differences between the polls leave the candidates wondering how close the race really is.
The Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call printed a 49 to 45 percent lead for Carney last week. But according to his own poll a few days earlier, Carney claims the margin is much wider. He says he's leading by 27 percent.
Carney is in his first term in Congress. His district represents Bradford County.

The Momentum Analysis poll showed Carney with a dominant 2-to-1 lead over Hackett (54% to 27%)

Said campaign manger Vince Rongione, "These polls confirm what we already know. Congressman Carney has very strong support across party lines and across the district. We will continue to fight for every vote and focus on the issues that really matter, but it is very encouraging to see that our positive message is connecting with voters in every corner of Northeast and Central Pennsylvania."

Thanks Chris Carney for Helping Seniors

Pike County Courier > Opinion
Updated: August 1, 2008

I would like to express my appreciation to both Democratic Congressman Chris Carney and Republican Congressman Todd Platts for co-sponsoring the much needed Care Giver Tax Relief Bill. This proposed law will allow people to take much better care of aging parents and provide tax relief for doing so.

When my mother became seriously ill, even though she had Medicare, the uncovered areas placed a large financial burden on myself, my husband and my brother. Many of the “Baby Boomer” generation have faced this heavy financial situation and many others could find themselves in this position in the future. No one likes to come to the point were we may have to ask our children for help because of the stress it may place on them and our grandchildren. This bill will help so many for so little and shows what can be accomplished when caring elected leaders of both parties, like Carney and Platts, work together for the benefit of those they represent.

I’d also at this time like to thank state Senator LIsa Baker and state Representative Dr. Karen Boback for all the work they do for seniors. It is deeply appreciated.

Gort42 Rips Hackett for his Whining

From reading Gort42's scintillating recap of the debate debate Hackett comes across like a whining child.

Debating debates

In a time honored tradition GOP challenger Chris Hackett has called for a series of debates with freshman Democrat Chris Carney then complains when the Carney camp doesn't agree to everything he wants.
