Gort42 Rips Hackett for his Whining

From reading Gort42's scintillating recap of the debate debate Hackett comes across like a whining child.

Desperate Hackett Begs for Debates

Hackett is so desperate for attention he has even proposed a debate on Immigration. Word is that he wants his former housekeeper an illegal immigrant herself to act as moderator. INS has yet to approve that

Hackett Challenges Carney to Eight Debates

Dallas, PAAfter weeks of attempting to reach out privately to the Carney campaign to negotiate a debate schedule, only to be repeatedly stonewalled, today congressional candidate Chris Hackett issued a public challenge to incumbent congressman Chris Carney to hold a series of eight substantive and informative debates across the district over the course of the next four months.

Hackett declared, “I know the congressman is busy, but I would think he’d be able to find a little time to debate the critical issues facing our country before the people of our district. We’ve been looking for Chris Carney for weeks to talk about debates, but he doesn’t seem interested. Hopefully, he will hear enough from voters that he’ll change his mind and agree to debates. We have major differences on key issues, and the voters deserve a full hearing of them.”

The Hackett campaign is proposing two types of debates. In addition to three debates in the traditional format that would be televised in October by WNEP, WVIA, and WBRE/WYOU, Hackett is also proposing a series of five single-topic Lincoln-Douglas style debates, in which the candidates can go into much greater depth about their views than in a traditional 30 or 60 second answer.

In addition to three October debates, the Hackett proposal is for five single topic debates during the months of July, August, and September on the following critical topics:

1) Energy Policy

2) Taxes and Spending

3) The Economy and Jobs

4) Social Security, Medicare, and Health Care

5) National Security and Immigration

Several media outlets, including WILK radio, have offered to host these debates.

Hackett concluded, “Going back to April, I have challenged Chris Carney to engage in the kind of serious, substantive, and respectful campaign that the people of northeast and central Pennsylvania deserve. Debates are a vital part of that kind of campaign, and I hope he decided to take us up on this challenge.”

U.S. Rep. Chris Carney, D-Dimock Township, was promoted to the rank of commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves this week.

That’s a step up from his former rank of lieutenant commander.

He will “pin-on” his new rank late next spring. He’s one of only 34 reserve intelligence officers to receive this promotion.

“I am extremely honored and humbled to receive this promotion,” said the congressman who represents the 10th District. “As someone that has dedicated his life to service, I was thrilled to see my name on the promotion list.”

He enlisted in the Navy Reserves in 1995 as an ensign and later activated for Operations Southern Watch, Noble Eagle and Enduring Freedom.

The first-term representative will face Republican challenger Chris Hackett in the November election.

Carney serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Committee on Homeland Security.

Carney and Republican Congressman Mark Kirk, of Illinois, also in the Navy Reserves, are the only two members of Congress currently serving in the reserves.

Carney targeted by GOP Criminal Conspiracy

Jamestown Associates of Princeton, NJ and Freedom Watch are alledged to have targerted Congressman Chris Carney as part of a Criminal Conspiracy.

2008's Grand Masters of GOP Dirty Tricks

The de facto reality is, this cycle, the GOP is reverting to media and robo-calling campaigns produced and implemented by a group of folks with known connections to, among other things:

1.) convicted felons, jailed for implementing dirty campaign tactics, as well as,

2.) serial violators of basic FEC regulations.

A comment from a New Jersey blog on convicted GOP felon, Allen Raymond, author of "How to Rig an Election: Confessions of a Republican Operative."

"As for his three months in a Pennsylvania prison, he wrote: 'After 10 full years inside the GOP, 90 days among honest criminals wasn't really any great ordeal.' "

FRONT MEN:

Karl Rove, Ari Fleischer and the other Rethug front men and mouthpieces on Sheldon Adelson's payroll over at Freedom's Watch really won't want you to read this diary.

In fact, Rove's denying that he's even associated with Adelson and Freedom's Watch. This has to be a bit of a spin record, since it's already been reported in a variety of articles--including a widely referenced piece from the New Yorker from last week-- that Rove's receiving a major six-figure stipend from Adelson now; but Karl's claiming he's not on Adelson's payroll. The rest of the population of planet Earth, including James Carville and the DCCC, would beg to differ on this basic fact.

That being said, this diary really isn't so much about Rove, Fleischer and Freedom's Watch as it is about the media thugs doing their wet work this cycle.

JAMESTOWN ASSOCIATES:

I'm talking about, among others, Jamestown Associates of Princeton, New Jersey--Freedom Watch's "agency of record"--as well as those that are known to have associated with this slimey group up until now.

(Much more about these scumbags in a moment. But, first, a little update.)
